Very Rare Antique Japanese Military WW2 1942 Hokoku-go Contribution Airplane Zero Navy Sake Bottle
This is a very rare antique Japanese navy sake bottle, decorated with an airplane on the front with a green glaze. The words on the bottom of the bottle are « Toyama Prefecture Jika-tabi-go (literally naming the plane « outdoor sock ») Military Airplane Contribution Commemoration » and the maker’s mark on the other side. These planes were called « Hokoku-go » or « Repaying your country » planes – paid for through public contributions by the public. This was the number 648 of these Hokoku-gos. According to this site which tracks these planes, this plane was given by the Toyama outdoor sock industry in Showa 17th Year (1942) and the frame was a Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter.
