Very Rare Antique Japanese Military WW2 Rabaul Capture Kutani Army Sake Cup

This is a very interesting cup – decorated with a star and the words « Rabaul » (literally Ra-ba-u-ru). The maker’s mark Kutani Eiraku is on the back. The Japanese army captured Rabaul in 1942 from the Australians after landing a brigade there. The exterior of the cup is decorated with some auspicious clouds. Cups from the Pacific War are very rare as victories stopped after about 1942.
